The word epic doesn’t come into our vocabulary often but this two day Indian New Orleans wedding was nothing short of the word. Day one, we met with Shanti and Ankur at the Hare Krishna temple on Esplanade avenue and the entire atmosphere had an energy that’s hard to explain. The air was filled with the smells of traditional Indian food being prepared from the kitchen of the temple while the actual sanctuary was colorfully decorated just waiting for everyone to come in. The actual ceremony was so intense. At one point it got hard to see with all of the smoke from the burning of offerings into the fire pit in the middle of the room. After that it was done and in the sense of their religion, they were man and wife.
Day two, now they had to be married in the eyes of the state. The next afternoon we met the couple at Race and Religious where they both got ready on seperate ends of the property. The weather was sunny all day until it was time for the ceremony and wouldn’t you know it, rain. Out of nowhere, the skies opened and it started to pour all over the wedding party and the guests! The bride and groom didn’t move druing the short storm and neither did we! Mint Julep Productions was a crucial part of this wedding making sure that everything was perfect and running smoothly, so of course they came running out with umbrellas for everyone. Shanti and Ankur weren’t going to let the rain ruin a good time, so without hesitation they second lined around the block with all of their guests. Fat Cat Flowers blew us away with incredible arrangements, bouquets, and floating lanterns that featured a gorgeous palette of berry colored hues. River City Hit Squad kept everyone dancing all night with their performance. We had an incredible time shooting this wedding, and we wish Shanti and Ankur all the happiness in the world!
