Sarah and Ethan Elopement – City Park

Sarah and Ethan came into New Orleans for a private elopement under the oaks of City Park before they jetted off to Europe. There’s always an excitement and tenderness about elopements that we love. We eloped!!! Having just a private moment with each other without all of the fuss of schedules and having several hundred people to account for can make for a sweet alternative. Sarah and Ethan looked fantastic and their smiles seemed to light up the park. We know they’re celebrating their love together in Europe having the time of their lives!!!

Fabi and Cory Engagement – Hotel St. Helene

Fabi and Cory’s engagement was one we were looking forward to for a while. Fabi is a photographer with a great eye so she told us from the jump that she was wanting to do something that just wan’t an ordinary day in the park amongst the trees. We went down to the Hotel St. Helene in the French Quarter where they were staying, sipped some champagne, and by the end of it, the two of them ended up in the pool! Fabi and Cory cracked us up the whole time with their sense of humor, it was easy to see that these two are perfect for each other. We’re even now more looking forward to their wedding in November. It’s is going to be Epic!

Aimee and Zach- Bayou Liberty Engagement

This session has a special place in our hearts… Bayou Liberty is where Jamie grew up, and he used used to swim in that very same water dodging snakes and alligators as a kid! When Aimee and Zach pulled up and saw the location, we saw the same look in their eyes that everyone gets their first time to Bayou Liberty. It’s really breathtaking! Zach was laid back and more comfortable than most when it came to holding his girl. Aimee is so sweet and loves the outdoors; so much so that she works outside and frequently drives ATVs on the job! The couple brought their incredible mini dachshund Bandit with them for the shoot, and he totally stole the show. We had such a great time with this couple and can’t wait to work with them again!

Kristin and Jason Engagement – French Quarter

Kristin and Jason cracked us up. Jason seriously had a joke a minute, and they we’re all funny. We started out at their favorite restaurant where they had their first date. Luckily the owner let us come in before they opened and they even got to sit at the table they first sat at together. Afterwards we went for an early morning walk in the French Quarter, which is always one of our favorite things to do. There is no where better than the French Quarter in the morning before it gets busy! We can’t wait for their wedding. If it’s half as fun as we had with them during their engagement session, it’s going to be a blast!

Nathallie and Stephen Wedding – Pavilion of the Two Sisters

Nathalie and Stephen are some of the super sweetest people we’ve ever worked with. They told us about how much they enjoy traveling together and stopping at Cracker Barrel during their road trips. Every guest was sent home from the reception with a jump peg game from their favorite restaurant to remember their wonderful wedding day. The couple had their ceremony at St. Catherine of Sienna and then partied their way over to the Pavilion of the Two Sister in City Park where there was eating, dancing, and tons of laughing. Everyone was so impressed with their cake stand they made together, and all of the personal touches Nathalie worked so hard to incorporate. We had such a blast with this couple and their family, and we wish them the best in their new life together!

Laure and Jeff Engagement – Downtown, New Orleans

Laure and Jeff wanted to go back to where their relationship started, which was on the corner of Rampart and Poydras. Jeff met Laure while she was working a a tailgating party before a Saints game. Laure swears that her outfit was what caught his eye, haha! What is so refreshing about their story is how organic it is. They have no mutual friends that hooked them up, they didn’t go to the same school, or meet on a dating site, they didn’t even live in the same town. Just a good old story of boy sees girl, boy asks girl on a date, they fall in love and live happy ever after!

With an afternoon of just walking around downtown and reliving their early relationship, it was nice to just take it slow. We topped it off with a quick stop at our studio (since we were in the area) for some much needed air conditioning. Gotta love these Louisiana summers!

Jen and Will Wedding – Southern Oaks Plantation

Jen and Will are the most laid back couple we have ever had because they planned their entire wedding without ever stepping foot in New Orleans! Ever. Neither had ever visited the city, but they knew it was where they wanted to start their lives together. They opted to have the wedding at Southern Oaks Plantation who takes care of EVERYTHING. Bride Film was there to video the day, and they always add to the wedding day amazement. Jen saw the plantation in photos on the internet and could tell how incredible the customer service was so she booked the place and ran with it. I have never cried (even though I cry quite frequently) at a wedding as much as I did at Jen and Will’s. The outpouring of love from family and friends, the sweet toasts, and a very emotional mother-son dance just did me in. Jamie kept looking at me from across the room because I was crying my eyes out at a wedding for people I had never met before. It is obvious that Jen and Will are meant for each other, and their wedding day was beautiful. We wish them the best of luck on their new adventure together as husband and wife.

Dayna and Robby Engagement – French Quarter

What’s better than a drink at the Napoleon House and then an aimless walk around the French Quarter that ends in a secret courtyard that you’re not supposed to be in with weather could not have been more perfect if it had been ordered off of a menu? Well in our opinion, that’s pretty much the perfect way to spend an afternoon. Lucky for us we got to share that awesomeness with Dayna and Robby! We were so excited because Dayna was the maid of honor in one of our favorite weddings and now we get to have all of that fun again with the same group. The best part of our afternoon was sneaking their lovable pup past hotel staff to get to this secluded courtyard. It was hilarious, almost like something out of a movie. This wedding is gonna be so much fun!!

Michelle and Blake Wedding – Champagne Palace

We knew Michelle and Blake were the sweetest people after our initial meeting. We had a great time with them during their engagement session and couldn’t wait for the wedding so we could hang out again . In the meantime, I shot a boudoir session for Michelle so she could give her new husband a Little Black Book for his wedding gift (Hey now!). He gave her a monogram necklace of her new initials, as well as a candle he kept from a special night they had together years ago.

When we arrived Michelle was a ball of emotions and anxiously anticipating her First Look, but once we were headed out to go see her man I could tell the nerves were turning into excitement. Her bouquet was full of daisies, which I think successfully displayed what a sweet person she is. The couple saw each other for the first time in the garden behind the reception venue and were over the moon once they were together.

We headed to St. Rita where Blake and Michelle were wed by the coolest and most enthusiastic priest ever. The party then headed to Champagne Palace where it didn’t stop! When the second line began at the end of the night I looked at Jamie in disbelief. Everyone was having a wonderful time celebrating the marriage of this couple that couldn’t be more perfect for each other.

We love Michelle and Blake and wish them the best in their new life together!

Disney Vacation

You might be wondering why there is a little old yellow house at the top of this post especially since it’s titled Disney Vacation, so let’s start with a little personal back story.

Heather and I lived in Orlando for years while we went to college and that crummy old box is our first real house that we ever lived in together. On Easter Sunday back in 2005 I asked her to marry me on the front porch (I didn’t even get down on one knee…., but that’s another long story!) While living in Orlando I worked as an audio stagehand with rock bands and pretty much any show that would pay me (not a glamorous life) and Heather worked as a waitress at the House of Blues in Downtown Disney. She was the bread winner back then

Since she worked on Disney property, we were able to get into Disney whenever we wanted. If we were bored, we would literally go to Disney, ride one ride, and go home. We have been to Disney so many times that the magic for us is pretty much all but snuffed out. Some people love Disney (plenty of our couples do!!) and that’s cool.. We’re just not that into it. But!!!! Our daughter has been such a huge help since her little sister was born that we wanted to do something just for her. Like any other little girl, she’s obsessed with Disney princesses. So we left the little one with the grandparents and took her all the way back to our old stomping grounds. A whole week just for her with no baby distractions!

We did it Griswald style! Packed up the car and headed cross country with the plan of going to Wally World no matter the cost, and come rain or shine, I was going to show my little girl the time of her life! She went on all of the rides and wasn’t scared at all. She even rode Thunder Mountain twice (proud Dad here). After all of the excitement of the crazy rides, fire works, and meeting all of the characters and getting their autograph, being the little princess she is, her favorite part of the whole trip was her make over at the Bippity Boppity Boutique.

Our trip was fantastic. It was just what we as a family needed. Besides Disney World, we had a chance to meet up with some of our closest friends who we don’t get to see as often as we want and we’re some lucky S.O.B’s for having people like them in our lives. We took our daughter to our old house and even stopped by our old alma mater where we wasted a lot of money to learn to be an audio engineers so that we could become photographers, Hahaha!! No, but seriously… BEST WEEK EVER!!
